Is it possible to disguise your truck/Jeep as an official company vehicle so you can park almost anywhere and not get a parking ticket? That’s what a San Francisco man set out to discover in the late 1980’s. Twenty years later his experiment continues to work on his latest vehicle, a plain white Jeep Cherokee XJ, modified with some simple items that makes the Jeep look like a business fleet vehicle. The man, who remains anonymous, goes by the official sounding company name “Telstar Logistics”, complete with a logo from a “defunct 1950s-era nuclear energy mutual fund.” While he admits he’s basically using the scheme to park illegally in loading zones, he considers it an “ongoing experiment in corporate phenomenology, urban camouflage, and identity development.” The idea is becoming popular enough for him to offer the logo to anyone who wants to create their our Telstar Logistics decals as his fake company expands operations country-wide.
